Many consider Nasser an ideal successor to Infantino as FIFA president, but amid recent turmoil, the Paris Saint-Germain president has explicitly denied running for the position.

Nasser responded through his spokesperson: "Mr. Nasser has absolutely no ambition, intention or interest in the FIFA presidency or the related media hype; on the contrary, he will continue to support all football institutions in the world and Europe in a low-key and constructive manner."

This response comes in response to reports from British media outlets such as Politico and The Daily Telegraph, which claim that Nasser is UEFA's and European football's leading candidate for FIFA president in 2027. The primary purpose of this move is to counter Gianni Infantino's recently announced plan to create a FIFA-affiliated commercial company—a plan already facing strong opposition from UEFA, which has even threatened to boycott the World Cup.
