Le Parisien: If FIFA does not withdraw its World Cup sales plan, England, France, Spain, Italy, and other countries will withdraw from the U20 Women's World Cup.

According to a report by Le Parisien on July 31, Beijing time, if FIFA does not withdraw its World Cup sales plan by the end of September, France, Italy, England, Portugal, Spain, and Poland, the host country of the tournament, will all withdraw from the event.

Gianni Infantino's push for FIFA to introduce private investors continues to spark controversy. This Thursday, UEFA took a new step, announcing that "as long as such proposals continue, all UEFA-affiliated national teams will not participate in any FIFA events." So, which competitions will be directly affected by this standoff between UEFA and FIFA?

The U20 Women's World Cup could become the first tournament affected by this threat. The tournament is scheduled to begin on September 5th, 14 days before FIFA's deadline for feedback from its 211 member associations on the plan. If the plan is not withdrawn by then, and UEFA decides to honor its commitments, six of the 24 participating teams will be eliminated: France, Italy, England, Portugal, Spain, and the host nation Poland.

This will present FIFA with a major challenge, given that other international tournaments are also approaching. This autumn, FIFA needs to host the U17 Women's World Cup and the U17 Men's World Cup, and then host the Women's World Cup in June 2027.

Currently, 90 FIFA member associations have explicitly opposed Infantino's plan. The FIFA president needs a majority vote to push the plan through, so just about 15 more dissenting opinions would reverse the balance of power, making the reform even more difficult to implement.
